1991 Yankee Conference Champs

Twenty five football alumni from the early 1990s gathered with former head coach Bill Bowes (in gray, second from right) on Saturday, October 29 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1991 Yankee Conference Championship. The players and their coach took to the field at halftime of the UNH football game against URI to commemorate their nine-victory season, at the time a school record, and what was then the Wildcats’ first Yankee Conference title in 15 years. The 1991 team’s season ended with the school’s first-ever NCAA Division I-AA playoff berth, setting the stage for a long string of playoff appearances to follow. The 2011 team advanced to the second round of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) series before falling to Montana State on December 3. UNH has qualified for the NCAA FCS championship for eight straight years, the longest streak in the nation.
