Women’s lacrosse alumnae Sandy Bridgeman ’87 and Nicole Moore ’92 were recently named to new coaching positions. Bridgeman, UNH head coach from 1996-2009 and a member of the UNH 1985 NCAA national championship team, has been hired as head coach of the Dutch national women’s lacrosse team in their run for a 2012 World Championship (July). Moore has been tapped to lead Stetson University’s brand new Division I women’s lacrosse program, which will field its first team in spring 2013. Other Wildcat lacrosse alumnae in head coaching positions at the collegiate level are Julie Redman ’99 (Presbyterian College), Katy Phillips ’98 (Robert Morris University), and Kristen Blanchette ’06 (Plymouth State University).

Two women’s track and field/cross country alumnae have qualified to compete in the U.S. Olympic team trials for the marathon in Houston, TX, on January 14. Erica Jesseman ’11 qualified by winning the ING Hartford Marathon in October, finishing her debut marathon race in 2:45:00. Megan Hepp Hovis ’05 earned her qualification at the Gold Coast Marathon in Australia over the summer, finishing in a time of 2:45:42. This will be the second marathon trial race for Hovis, who finished 12th at the 2008 Olympic Trials with a time of 2:37:29.

Save the date: UNH Homecoming Weekend 2012 will be held October 12–14. In football, the Wildcats will take on the University of Richmond, Saturday, October 13. Noon kickoff.

The Class of 2012 Athletics Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 23. 2012 inductees will be announced in early spring.
