The University has been building such a faculty for many years, recruiting the best people in a variety of fields and seeking to provide the opportunities and resources necessary to encourage superior scholarship, excellent teaching, and extraordinary service to New Hampshire and the nation.
Endowed support for faculty is invaluable in assisting the University to recruit leading scholars who have achieved distinction elsewhere. Support in the form of Distinguished Faculty Chairs attracts senior-level faculty, encourages interdisciplinary research, raises the prestige of the University and aids in student recruitment, especially at the graduate level.
Term professorships enable University departments to encourage and reward faculty members for outstanding academic accomplishments and provide them with additional resources to continue their work.
