Making it Count
UNH alumni Greg ’76 and Vicki Fazio Ambrose ’77 have always given generously to The UNH Fund, making annual gifts directed toward student scholarships in occupational therapy. Vicki earned her undergraduate degree in OT and knows firsthand that those students have a demanding academic workload. “They shouldn’t have to worry about money on top of that,” she says.
In the spring of 2008, the Ambroses were invited to the annual occupational therapy student award ceremony, where they met with faculty members and a student who had benefited from their annual gift. “We drove home that day marveling at the quality of the students, the program and UNH,” recalls Vicki. “UNH is a great school, and we decided to put our money where our mouths were.” The following year, they established the Ambrose Occupational Therapy Scholarship Fund.
“We’re not rich,” says Greg. “But we do feel very lucky that there were no financial constraints for either of us when we attended UNH. Money should never deprive someone of an education, and our hope is that this fund can make a real difference in the lives of students.”
Both Greg and Vicki say being able to provide an endowment is a privilege. “It’s one more connection to UNH,” Greg says. “Education is very important to our family, and if our gift can make it easier for someone to get a college education, we couldn’t be happier.”
