On Saturday, October 29th, at halftime of the football game vs. the URI, members of the 1991 football team were honored with head coach Bill Bowes. Twenty years ago, UNH tied what was then was a school record with nine victories, won the first Yankee Conference Championship in 15 years and appeared in the school’s first ever NCAA Division IAA playoff game.

On Saturday, October 15, members of the UNH men’s hockey teams from the late 1960s and early 1970s returned to campus for a reunion event. Some 55 attendees enjoyed a dinner in Holloway Commons, a presentation on the Charles E. Holt Archives of American Hockey by Professor of Kinesiology Steve Hardy and Special Collections librarian Bill Ross, and the hockey game vs. Boston College.

On Saturday, October 15, Rick Metzer ’72 and his wife, Patricia Tracey, VADM, USN (Ret.) were recognized by Athletic Director Marty Scarano for establishing the UNH Wildcat Hockey Alumni Scholarship Fund in honor of Rube Bjorkman, men’s hockey coach from 1964-68. This new endowed fund will provide merit-based scholarship support to members of the UNH men’s hockey team.

The women’s indoor track and field 4x400 meter relay team clocked a 3:50.27 finish at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on February 11, the foursome did more than set a new school record. They also ensured a remarkable finish to their individual and shared UNH track careers. Chelsey Canvan, Megan Donohue, Kaitlin Kwiecien, and Kaitlyn Dugan, all Class of 2011, have compiled a range of awards and achievements both athletic and academic, graduating with a raft of all-conference honors and nearly perfect 4.0 GPAs. All scholarship recipients, none of them can imagine being student-athletes anywhere except at UNH.

Women’s Basketball Alumni Day Second year head coach Maureen Magarity invites back all Women’s Basketball Alumni to participate in Alumni Day. There will be an Alumni game at 10 a.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium and at 1 p.m. the current UNH Women play host to conference rival UMBC. A reception will follow immediately after the game.
